RockTown Tour

Lincoln’s Ninth Annual Rocktown Tour will be on Wednesday, March 30, 2016.  The title of this year’s show is “Jeopardy, the Ultimate Journey of a Lifetime”, a game-show-styled production.  We will be performing at Franklin Elementary at 10:00 AM, Pinewood Elementary at 1:00 PM and Bamber Valley Elementary at 2:20 PM.  We will also enjoy some recreation & lunch at the Boys & Girls Club at 11:15 AM.

The show will include performances from the Uppers Choirs, Orchestras, Bands & Trash Can Drummers, as well as a few other mediums.  Our final performance for Lincoln will be on Thursday, March 31, 2016 at 2:00 PM in the Gymnasium.  All are welcome to attend any of the performances.

As our tradition continues, each of the Uppers is working on completing at least 50 Blue Ribbons on Study Island.  This has been an achievement we bring with us on Tour every year.  We appreciate all support in this endeavor!

Parent Volunteers Needed -- Lincoln Ellen Hunt Alumni Scholarship Selection Committee

The Lincoln Ellen Hunt Alumni Scholarship chairs are looking for two parent volunteers to participate as a member of the scholarship selection committee.

This is a one-time volunteer opportunity where members of the committee participate in reviewing scholarship applications, meet for a single evening to dialogue and select a recipient. Members of the committee are given the applications to review prior followed by a selection meeting on May 11^th (typically lasting for 1-2 hours).

No experience needed, however selected members need to be available on May 11th.

Help Our Local Animal Shelters

Please consider helping two fifth grade students with their Genius Hour Project by donating to our local animal shelters.  Camp Companion and Paws and Claws are two organizations that rescues, nurtures, and finds homes for cats and dogs in Rochester.  The problem is they often don’t have enough supplies to meet the needs of the animals.  You can help relieve some of the stress caused by lack of supplies by donating new or gently used cat/dog supplies such as: Purina Cat Chow, Purina Kitten Chow, Scoopable Litter, Litter Scoops, toys, beds, canned food, paper towels, bleach based cleaners, etc. There is a gray collection bin in the main foyer, in front of the office.  Please direct any questions to Katrina Milbrandt and/or Sasha Penheiter in Mr. Ruffin’s 5th Grade class.

How scrip generates revenue for you

The Great Lakes Scrip Center acts on behalf of churches, schools and other non‑profit organizations to purchase large amounts of scrip from grocery stores, department stores, and other retailers.  Because the scrip is purchased with cash up front, the participating retailers offer a substantial discount.  Our organization buys the scrip from Great Lakes Scrip Center at a discount, and re-sells the certificates to families like yours for full face value.  The discount ‑ from two to fifteen percent or more –  is Lincoln’s revenue.  Remember, If you purchase a $10.00 Kwik Trip card you get the full amount.  So spend $10.00 and get $10.00.  Use SCRIP to purchase thing you would usually purchase with cash or check.

Please join the PPT this month as we welcome Lindy Lange from RochesterFamilies.com.  Lindy will present information about Summer Programs, Camps, and other Enrichment Opportunities.  This will be a GREAT opportunity to hear from a knowledgeable expert and share ideas about this timely topic as Lincoln families prepare for the upcoming summer months.

Do you have a great idea for something that would benefit the Lincoln students, but just need some money to make it happen? If so, Special Projects could be the way to make it happen. Following a very successful auction and funding of the PPT budget, there is $18,000 available for Special Projects.

What are Special Projects?

* Special Projects can be any project or item that will benefit the school. Special Projects can be submitted by parents, teachers or students of Lincoln.
* Special Projects are paid for by money that is raised from the annual Lincoln Auction after the PPT budget has been funded.
* Special projects funded in the past include: the Smart Boards in the classrooms, the "Big Toy" playground equipment, the Lincoln information sign, the  popcorn popper and 3D Laser Printer.


To apply for Special Projects funding, fill in the attached application and return to Jocelyn Martin (jrkm911@gmail.com) or give to Amy in the school office.   Applications must be received by Friday, January 15, 2016.   All received applications will be reviewed at a Consensus meeting on Wednesday, February 3rd starting at 6pm.  During the meeting, a funding proposal will be agreed on. All Lincoln parents, guardians and staff are welcome to attend the consensus meeting.
