"Life Support" - Science Program at Century High School
This year the Century Elementary Program will be offering a new course entitled “Life Support”. This class is taught by the Advanced and Honors biology students and the Science Club of Century High School.
This course is offered for students in Grades 1-3 and 3-5.
Class Dates, Times and Grades:
Class I April 10, 17, 24, and May 1 and 8 (Wednesdays) 4:00 - 5:30 PM for Grades 1-3
Class II April 11, 18, 25, May 2 and 9 (Thursdays) 4:00 - 5:30 PM for Grades 3-5
Cost: $60.00 for the 5 week course

We have many live animals and plants as we explore the systems needed for life to exist. Units include: 1. How do things get around in there? (Circulatory System)
2. Does everybody breathe? (Respiratory System)
3. What do they eat? (Digestive System)
4. How do they protect themselves (Integumentary System)
5. How do they move and where do they go? (Skeletal and Muscle systems)

Lincoln Chess Club - Interest Survey
We are working on identifying student and adult supervisors for Chess Club, but need to know how many students might be interested before we proceed. We are thinking of running Lincoln Chess Club once a week as part of the Rochester After-School Program (RAP) on Mondays from 3:35 to 4:45 from March 3 through March 24.
The Lincoln Chess Club would be open to ALL Lincoln students, grades K-8. Students may join at any time, but students would ALSO have to sign up for the Rochester After-School Program (RAP) to participate in Chess Club on Mondays. If your student is already signed up for RAP, then they can attend Chess Club on Mondays during RAP. There is no charge for either Chess Club or RAP.
Supervision would be provided by Rochester After-School Program (RAP) Staff and chess will be taught by members of the Century High School Chess Team and Lincoln Uppers students.
A typical chess club meeting will include a group lesson, a fun chess activity, and a game or two between players who are matched to be at a similar experience level.
If you are interested in joining the Chess Club this year, please reply to natecate13@charter.net. We will send out registration forms for both Chess Club and RAP as soon as we know the numbers and have confirmed the staffing, so watch the LincolnLincs next week!

How can you get notified directly when new articles are posted on the LincolnLincs? Enter your email address in the “Follow by Email” box at the left of the LincolnLincs main page. You will receive a confirmation email – follow the directions to complete your subscription. Once you are subscribed, you will receive an email every day that contains all the new articles on the LincolnLincs that were posted that day. If no new articles were posted that day, you will not get an email that day. It's a great way to keep up with Lincoln news!

Special Projects - $14,165 Available to be Granted!
Do you have a great idea for something that would benefit the Lincoln students, but just need some money to make it happen? If so, Special Projects could be the way to make it happen. Following a very successful auction and funding of the PPT budget, there is $14,165 available for Special Projects.

Safety is Always our Top Priority for Students at Lincoln - How Can You Help?
Here are a few reminders how you can help us keep our students safe at Lincoln.
• Sign in to the office when volunteering or coming into Lincoln. We will provide a volunteer badge or visitor sticker for you to wear as this will help everyone identify people that have access to Lincoln. All visitors must sign in to office.
• Visitors must use Door 1 when arriving at Lincoln. Please do not use side doors or ask for entry into other doors. Door 7 can be used before and after school for students arriving and for SACC drop/off and pick-up.
• When doing drive-up student pick up or drop off- please use the back parking lot as this provides the safest process for all students. Please do not try to pick up students in front of school before or after school as the busses need all the space and it makes for unsafe situations.
Thank you for your support and assistance in making the safest possible procedures happen at Lincoln for all our students.

The LincolnLincs Online Newsletter Needs New Leadership!
The leadership of the LincolnLincs Online Newsletter are going to be stepping down after this year. The LincolnLincs is operated entirely by Lincoln parents/guardians. In order for the LincolnLincs to continue operation, a new group of Lincoln parents/guardians are needed to join the LincolnLincs team. We need you!
What are the responsibilities?
1. Learn how to post articles on the LincolnLincs Online Newsletter. No prior experience with programming is needed. Familiarity with html, blogs or websites might be helpful to enhance the newsletter design and functions. Training will be provided (the process is simple!)
2. Members of the Lincoln community will email articles to the LincolnLincs team (at your email or the lincolnlincs@gmail.com address). You will post these articles on the LincolnLincs.
3. Take the Lincoln Parent E-files each week and make sure that all the articles in the E-files are already posted or get posted to the LincolnLincs.
4. Give LincolnLincs access (username,password) and technical assistance to Lincoln PPT and other organizational leadership who are authorized to post their own articles on the LincolnLincs.
Parents/guardians can do all the work on the LincolnLincs at home, any time of the day or night. If multiple team members are involved, assignments can be spread out.
In addition, members of the LincolnLincs team have been discussing developing a Lincoln K-8 Facebook page and Twitter feed. This is another project that the new LincolnLincs team can consider taking on.

Lincoln Students and Staff Published in Zebrafish Journal
Congratulations to everyone at Lincoln for being part of the most recent
Zebrafish Special Edition Scientific Journal. There are several articles and multiple abstracts from students, staff, and our partner scientists that truly put Lincoln and InSciEd Out on the global scientific map. The front cover was created by our very own student and staff member.

This type of recognition and acceptance is absolutely groundbreaking for any school around the world. It is worth your time to read some of the articles as it gives some great perspective as to what Lincoln has done over the past few years in changing education and opportunities for students.
