LINCOLN CARNIVAL - This Saturday, May 20, 10am to 1pm

The Lincoln PPT Social Committee invites you to join the Lincoln community for a day of FUN for the entire family, this Saturday, May 20, from 10am to 1pm.  Activities include bowling, limbo, a cake walk, ball toss, bean bags, duck pond, popcorn, cotton candy, a flamingo toss, plinko game, hula hoop, frog flinger, and spin the wheel.  Mr. Pizza will be selling pizza by the slice and beverages from 11am-1pm.

Lincoln K-8 Volunteer Opportunities for 2017-2018 School Year

We are nearing the end of the school year and PPT is looking for people for a few committee and leadership roles.

 

  1.  PPT Secretary:  This is the last year for our current PPT Secretary and we are looking for someone to take on this role for the 2017-2018 school year.  This a 2-year commitment and can be longer if interested.  This is a position where most of the work is done during after school hours.  The secretary is required to attend PPT Leadership meetings as wells as PPT meetings, the meetings occur monthly September through May. They are also required to attend the yearly PPT budget meeting, PPT wrap-up meeting held in June and an Executive committee meeting held in December to determine the Special Projects amount to be released.

2.  PPT President Elect:  This position requires a three year commitment.  The year you are President Elect is the year you shadow the current PPT Co-Presidents to learn the ins and outs of the positon.  The next two years you function in the role as one of the PPT Co-Presidents.  The role requires you to attend PPT Leadership meetings as wells as PPT meetings, the meetings occur monthly September through May.  You are also required to attend the yearly PPT budget meeting, PPT wrap-up meeting held in June and an Executive committee meeting held in December to determine the Special Projects amount to be released.  You work closely with the rest of the executive committee, PPT committee chairs, principal and staff.

3.  Social Committee is looking for new members to join their team.  This committee organizes the many family centered events at Lincoln.  Pizza Bingo, Saturday at the Movies, All Pro Dads, School Dance and School Carnival just to name a few.

4.  Auction Committee is looking for volunteers.  This can be a big or small commitment!  There are many opportunities both the day of the auction and days leading up to the auction. PARENT VOLUNTEERS NEEDED: Lincoln Ellen Hunt Scholarship Selection Committee

Each year, Lincoln awards 2 scholarships to high school seniors who are alumni of Lincoln Choice School, through the Ellen Hunt Scholarship.  Ms. Hunt was a former office manager for Lincoln for many years until her retirement and this scholarship has been established in her name. 

We are looking for volunteers to participate in the selection committee to pick the winners of the scholarship.  You will be able to review the applications of all the applicants and see what remarkable achievements form Lincoln students have accomplished in their high school years.  The time requirement is very minimal, but you must be able to attend the selection meeting that will be held on Tuesday, May 9th at 7:00 pm at Panera South.

Welcome to Kingdoms

Once again the Century High School biology department will be offering an after school program in biology.   The title of the program is “Welcome to the Kingdoms” and will be an exploration of the kingdoms of life.   We will be doing experiments, dissection and exploration of everything from bacteria to animals.   This year we are offering the program from 4:00 until 5:30 on five consecutive Thursday afternoons starting on April 13.  We will be separating children by age and modifying the program as needed.   Unfortunately we cannot provide transportation so students and parents will need to arrange their own.

"The Time Turners Legacy" : Uppers play

The show must go on. We rescheduled “The Time Turners Legacy”, which is based off of Harry Potter. The play will be on March 10^th starting at 2:15 at school, and 7:05 for after school. If your child is acting or is on stage crew they are required to attend both. During the nighttime show they should arrive at 5:40 so they are ready to run through the play once before show time. Actors and Stage Crew have spent a lot of time working on this school play and I hope that everyone will be able to come and watch!

FUNDED SPECIAL PROJECTS FOR 2017!!!!!

Thank you to everyone who submitted proposals to the 2017 Special Projects.  Participants spent several hours reviewing and discussing the various proposals.  Value was seen in all proposals and the group would have liked to approve them all. However, we had $29,770 worth of proposals submitted and a budget of $19,000.
