Lincoln Students Connecting with NASA International Space Station (ISS) – April 24

Teaching From Space, in conjunction with NASA Johnson Space Center’s Public Affairs Office, facilitates downlinks which are designed to encourage K-16 students to study and pursue careers in science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM). This project is part of our partnership with Mayo Clinic and the InSciEd Out program and was arranged by scientist Dr. Christopher Pierret.

Lincoln K-8 Choice School students in grades 1,4 and 5 will connect with the International Space Station through the Digital Learning Network (DLN) on Thursday, April 24.. Due to technology limitations, Lincoln students will not get to directly ask questions to the astronauts on the ISS; instead, a surrogate in Colorado will ask a few chosen questions from select remote sites to the astronauts on the ISS. The questions will be chosen by the staff at the Air Force Academy and read during the 20 minute downlink, and the author of the question will be given proper credit. After the downlink, Lincoln students will be able to interface directly with a panel of astronauts in CO through the DLN and live video feeds.

Because of space limitations, parents cannot be accomodated to watch the event at Lincoln, but parents can watch LIVE online on NASA TV at 10:45am on Thursday at:
